Week 38-9

Hello everyone,

As we move further into development we're probably going to be reducing these dev logs to every other week. The game isn't undergoing wild changes every week anymore, most of what we're working on isn't as showy, and we're getting dangerously close to spoiler territory. That said, we've been working on a ton of different stuff these last couple weeks!

First up, the game now has save slots. Letting anyone who wants to start over without permanently erasing their progress seemed like a nice touch. We also put together a bunch of materials for potential publishers that are a little to spoiler heavy to show off here.

We also added a bunch of new content in the from of three brand new levels. The first is a surger focused levels with more interesting ways of cutting off the enemy then ever before.

The second is a new wandering base level where you must outrun an unstoppable enemy through a gauntlet of defenses.

The third involves two enemies battling each other. One sturdy foe wielding advanced platforms and defenses, another corrupted and running at lightning speed. The corruption is contained for now, but can you defeat your foe without unleashing it? Could you even turn this unusual foe to your advantage? (Spoilers: yes)

We've made a lot of game systems, so it's been a lot of fun to play around with them and make some more fun levels.

We've also expanded the scope of what difficulty levels mean a fair bit. We're adding some nice features for newer players. Enemies that aren't as good at targeting your weak spots, slower capture so it's easier to come back from mistakes, and smaller platforms so it's easier to advance slowly and create a defensive line. On the flip side, hard mode does the opposite of all those things. We're quite satisfied with the new level of difficulty on the later levels. It's become quite challenging at this point (even for us devs!), but you still have plenty of options for how to succeed.

Lastly, we've hired a video editor to make us some trailers: Caleb Klomparens. A maker of fine memes (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT9iXSHlSaK6NdYRrfVzeaA) and cool music (https://youtube.com/channel/UCqVrXRFnEgHAzCmOvH5GosA), truly, Caleb is a man of culture. We're lucky to have his help!

Thanks for reading,

Tucker Bane
